So you've found the site and you'd like to play, but you don't know where to begin? Fear not. I've created this step-by-step guide to help you along on your way to SEG greatness (or at least fun.)
If you create an account that has banned words in the screen name, your account will be deleted & you will need to make a new one. This can be easily avoided by not including racist or sexist terms or the F word.
If you have any questions that I didn't cover here, feel free to send me a message. (Click on my name next to this post and then go down to 'Send this member a Private Message') Or send me an email at bwind22@yahoo.com
Thanks for checking out the site. We'd love to have you stick around and play!
- Click on 'REGISTER' then fill out the info to create your account.
Make sure you activate your account or it will not work. - Finding a Game - After you've registered, the next step is finding a game to play in. Go to the 'Registration' thread (directly below this 'New Arrivals' thread.) and see what games are currently registering.
There is generally 2 games running while the Survivor show is airing. Those games coincide with the show and follow it twist by twist. When the show ends, there is generally 2-3 Off-Season games that are run on this site. These games are created by their individual hosts and do not coincide with the show, but they do follow the general format (usually with a few extra twists and turns thrown in along the way.)
Pretty much every day of the year, there are games playing or registering so if you just got here and the season is halfway over on tv, just stick around because the Off-Season games will be right around the corner. Conversely, if you just got here and the Off-Season games are already running, then stick around because the next season of Survivor won't be far behind. - Read the Rules - There are general rules located in the 'Rules' thread directly under the 'Registration' thread. Those rules are pretty much the House Rules, however individual Off-Season games may have additional rules that you will need to pay attention to that will be posted in the game's thread (once the game gets rolling.)
- Know what you're getting into - Anyone and everyone is welcome to play, but due to the nature of the game, I don't recommend it for anyone too young.
By doing everything listed above, realize that you are signing up to play Survivor. Survivor is not a nice game (although we're all nice people.) Throughout the course of the game, more than likely, you will be lied to. You will be deceived. And the odds are that you will not win. (Only 1 person out of the 16-20 playing get to do that.) So if you are going to be upset that you are lied to or deceived or that you get voted out, then please think twice about whether or not this is something you really want to sign up for. - Ghostnics - It is worth noting that this site has been up and running for years now. That being said, many of the people here have played several different times and are familiar with each other (for better or for worse. They may know some to be a fantastic ally or they may know someone to be a notorious backstabber.) If a person feels like they may be seen as too big of a threat based on how well they did in previous games, many times they will sign up as an new screen name (aka a "ghostnic" short for "ghost nickname".) and play as a completely different person/character. Obviously, in a game like Survivor, the knowledge that the person one thinks is new may actually be a Hall of Famer in disguise can breed paranoia, so as a newbie, do not be surprised (or offended) if and when you are asked if you are someone you are not. It happens all the time and should be taken with a grain of salt.
- Cheating - Signing up as multiple players in the same game is forbidden. IP addresses are checked before and during each and every game. Logging into another person's account is also considered cheating. Keep your password secret. If you are caught attempting to cheat, you will be ejected from the game, period.
If you create an account that has banned words in the screen name, your account will be deleted & you will need to make a new one. This can be easily avoided by not including racist or sexist terms or the F word.
